About Leovina

Leovina Charles is a New York based actress, singer, dancer, and model. Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, Leovina knew early on her purpose would be found in the performing arts. Making her first professional theatre debut as Young Nala in The Lion King on Broadway, she still remembers the energy coursing through her spirit her very first performance on The New Amsterdam stage. It was on that night Leovina decided that she would be an actor, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Starting as a dance major at “The Fame School”, New York City’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High school, Leovina went on to attain her BFA in Musical Theatre from Howard University, and received her MFA in Acting from the University of California San Diego. The proud daughter of two Haitian immigrants, Leovina has a passion for stepping into the shoes of those whose stories often go untold, and gravitates towards roles that allow her to explore the full reaches of humanity.

Vulnerability, strength, compassion, and truth remain at the core of Leovina’s expression no matter the medium. She has a special appreciation for work that portrays women in the polylithic way in which they exist in our world, finding the opportunity to be dynamic, flawed and wholly authentic on stage, not only thrilling, but integral to the discovery of both character and self. Leovina believes the arts are a powerful tool for self reflection, and is committed to continuing to tell stories that hold a mirror up to the world around her: in all its mess, all its beauty, and all its truth.
